Story of three "colored girls," three sisters and their mama from Charleston, South Carolina: Sassafrass, the oldest, a poet and a weaver like her mother, gone north to college, living with other artists in Los Angeles and trying to weave a life out of her work, her man, her memories and dreams; Cypress, the dancer, who leaves home to find new ways of moving and easing the contractions of her soul; Indigo, the youngest, still a child of Charleston—"too much of the south in her"—who lives in poetry, can talk to her dolls, and has a great gift of seeing the obvious magic of the world.

Non Profit

The Best Richardson Literature and Culture Museum is fulfilling our goal since our nonprofit's inception in 2018. We now own land in the historic Lincolnville neighborhood, where our nonprofit will be housed with the help of our Friends, Donors, and Benefactors. "No gift is too small!!!" Use our Donate button, mail donations, or bring them to the Museum. At this time, we take this opportunity to thank Ms. Elizabeth L. Horsley for her more-than-generous contribution, the LCRA, the Community Foundation of Northeast Florida, the Lincolnville Historical PRS, St. Augustine Cultural Council, the CDA-Zimeniz Fatio House, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, who have helped our mission.
Visit us at 83 Washington St. in the historic Lincolnville Community of St. Augustine, FL. Join us for the "First Friday Art Walk" as you relax to Jazz Music and light refreshments while sharing History, Art, literature, and contributions of African Diaspora Gullah Families. "Search our book list for History and Genealogy to discover Men of Color in the middle 1750's and earlier, celebrating America 250."
